Art

The power and influence that art has on a child’s life is profound. A student's interaction with art is parallel to their development. The Art program at St. Barnabas School strives to create fun, innovative and exciting projects that create young fearless artists. Throughout the program lessons that incorporate elements of design and principles of design are what form the curriculum.
By using these elements and principles to produce their own visual art works, students learn to see, to sense, to recall and to become more aware of who they are as students and as artists. The emphasis during the pre-school through 4th grade is on the development of both observation and fine-motor skills as well as on acquiring an art vocabulary. The art experiences from 5th grade through 8th grade are two- and three-dimensional in detail with more emphasis on techniques, craftsmanship and creativity of process.
