Gym Duty

ABOUT GYM DUTY - All families of children who play indoor sports are required to complete volunteer "Gym Duty" hours during their season.

  • An email will be sent to the TeamSnap Registrant and posted to the St. Barnabas School Buckeyes Facebook Group with the list of open volunteer slots - currently the Athletic Board is using Signup Genius.
  • Once your volunteer shift is scheduled, you must provide 48 hours notice to cancel any shift. After the 48-hour window, you are required to find your own replacement. If you do not show up for your shift, you will be billed.
  • Everyone is asked to arrive on time for all shifts. The opening shift generally begins 45 minutes prior to the start of the first game scheduled in our gym.
  • Families may find their own replacements if they cannot fulfill a shift; however, it is the family’s responsibility to ensure the replacement fulfills the commitment.
  • An estimated 4 to 8 volunteer hours are required per season, per family. If there are not enough shifts available to cover a family’s responsibilities for an indoor season, the fee will not be billed as long as there are no empty slots during that season.
  • After the completion of each indoor season, any family that fails to fulfill the volunteer requirements will be sent an invoice to cover replacement labor costs and/or missed fee collections due to the missed service. Failure to pay the invoice will result in your children being removed from future sports until paid.
  • Families of the coaches of an indoor sport are exempt from this requirement during the season for which they coach.
  • All fines levied are subject to appeal to the Executive Board for emergency situations and other factors.
  • The fee for the 2026/27 School Year is $150 per missed shift, capped at $300 per season.
