Service Projects

St. Barnabas realizes that offering a compelling religion curriculum in the classroom isn’t enough to develop stewards of Christ inFirefighter Fund
action if students aren’t acting it out in their daily lives.  Therefore, we also offer additional opportunities for all students to act as thehands of Jesus in our All-School Service Day, grade-level service projects and school-wide charitable efforts helping those in need. Nothing gives us greater pride as a school community than witnessing our students out in the world, showing kindness and compassion and acting on behalf of those less fortunate.

St. Barnabas students of various ages have coordinated fundraisers over the years. One recent example is “Change for Pets,” which two 5th-grade boys spearheaded on behalf of shelter animals. Other ongoing examples include "Hoops for Humanity" and “Volley for a Cause,” put on by our Student Council, in which winners of the basketball and volleyball tournaments get to choose which charity the entry fees will go to. Other examples of our students’ and families’ commitment to service include fundraisers to help Puerto Rico and Texas after Hurricanes Maria and Harvey, respectively, and a recent fundraiser to benefiting the EMWQ Retirees', Widows' and Children's Assistance Fund, for Chicago Fire Department families.
