Project Match
THE PROJECT MATCH PROGRAM (Matching Achievement To Curriculum Heights) is a comprehensive instructional model for all students in grades 1 - 8 that promotes high student achievement for all levels of learners.
With Project Match, students are grouped by ability for their reading and math courses in accelerated, traditional, or small, structured settings. Grades 1-8 are grouped for reading, and Grades 6-8 are also grouped for math. Students follow the same core curriculum and use the same grade-level materials. Every group is taught the same grade-level standards, except for one section of junior high math that has been accelerated by one grade level. The primary distinctions between the groups are class size and instructional pacing. For all other classes (social studies, science, religion, and enrichment specials), students are grouped with their homeroom.
A successful learning environment is just as critical as the curriculum. We carefully place each student where they will be heard, challenged, and supported. Student placement is a data-informed process that examines academic performance, social-emotional needs, and learning styles. Our goal is not just to place a student in a room, but to place them in a community where they can be their most authentic and successful selves.

Student placement is determined through:
- i-Ready Inform (formerly the Diagnostic): Scores from all three Inform assessments and growth measurements.
- Curriculum-Based Assessments: Scores from the Savvas and HMH curriculum tests at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.
- Classroom Performance: Grades from all three trimesters.
- Teacher Input: Qualitative observations regarding work habits and classroom readiness.
Diverse Learning Needs and Placement - The presence of a diverse learning need, such as an IEP, 504 Plan, or Student Support Plan, does not determine placement. Students with support plans are enrolled in all three instructional sections based on their academic proficiency data.
Mobility and Flexibility - Research shows that ability grouping is most effective when it is flexible. We are committed to ensuring students are not "pigeonholed." We review student data at the end of each trimester, and if the data indicates a student would benefit from a different setting, we facilitate movement between groups during the school year.
